About the Gallery
Welcome to the Cathryn O’Donnell Gallery
Our gallery
Art with a point of view.
Contemporary and regional voices, shown with intention.
We offer the public an alternative to exclusively coastal-inspired art by featuring artwork that presents subject matter in underrepresented or unique styles and mediums. Emerging artists, talented student artists, and seasoned artists who produce work with a point of view and sense of experimentation and play make up our roster.
Through up-to-date online marketing, art events, curated collections of selected artists, and public and private exhibitions, we seek to promote opportunities for artist visibility, sales and growth. We also aim to create relationships with both established and emerging collectors by raising community awareness of the variety and richness of our local and regional art.

A note from Cathryn
On my own work.
My own art focuses on confident, empowering female figures and portraits that convey emotional intensity, vitality and self-expression. I am interested in creating work that feels emotionally-charged and is visually layered through color, texture and expressive form – artworks that hold energy, tension and movement while inviting the viewer to spend time with them.
My art practise is also strongly connected to my background as a Professor of Spanish Language and Literature and as an actor/director in local theatre – often inspired by Hispanic cultural references and symbolism and one that always conveys a sense of performance, theatricality, and exuberance.
In addition to showing my art in the Gallery, I continue to exhibit in group and solo shows locally and throughout the Carolinas, and my portraits of the imaginary residents of Tennessee Williams’ classic play, The Glass Menagerie, have been displayed as part of the production set at the Brunswick Little Theater in Southport, N.C.
